Week 7 - Rick and Morty S6
I have just watched the new Rick and Morty season. Season 6. Although other seasons are better, it's still fun to watch the new season, especially since I was watching it for the first time. I still haven't watched the final episode but the rest have been pretty good. The season starts off with Rick and Morty recovering from the events of the last season. The Citadel (inter-dimensional city-state made and inhabited by Ricks and Mortys from infinite realities) is in chaos and slowly falling apart. They try to maneuver their way out of this situation while running out of oxygen.
I like how this season starts off with Rick and Morty at a severe disadvantage. Not only are they stuck in the Citadel in the first episode, but they're also unable to use portal travel for the first few episodes. Still, the writers manage to create exciting adventures even without the disorderly, parallel realities to explore. They eventually escape the Citadel and get portal travel back, but I like how it shows that Rick is, in fact, not an unstoppable, sci-fi god. We see his humility more as he comes across his greatest enemy: himself. In the first episode, Rick runs into himself from another reality. Only, this Rick was the one that killed his family. Morty is also connected to this Evil Rick as this Rick is his original grandfather.
I don't really like the increasing kindness and humbleness coming from Rick in this season. Although it's nice to see him turn over a new leaf, the funniest/best moments from Rick and Morty were from when he was mercilessly bullying Morty or raining hell on Jerry (Morty's dad). Although I haven't watched the last episode yet, I assume we get to see Evil Rick again. In this new episode, I hope that Rick lets go of his newfound kindheartedness to do what's right and save his family.
Overall, Rick and Morty is a pretty good series. I've probably said this before in past blogs. I've convinced two people to start watching and they said they really liked it, so I hope others watch it as well.
