Week 5 - Psych

Early on in my life, I discovered a show called Psych. It details the adventures of Shawn and Gus, a ragtag best friend duo that solves crimes while pretending to be something they're not. In the first episode, Shawn (an unproductive and lazy twenty something year old) calls in a tip about a case while watching the news. He is promptly arrested as the police don't believe he could've figured out the case without actually being part of the crime itself. To save his skin, he proclaims he's a "psychic", a person of supernatural power that can deduce details of crimes with no evidence. In reality, Shawn is hyper-observant and has an eidetic memory. Although he's lazy and every definition of a "bum", Shawn's incredibly smart and has great potential. After his arrest, he then goes on to help the police solve the crime, spurring a series of amazing solves. 

I'd categorize this show as a detective-comedy series. It doesn't get too serious, and I feel the real fun in watching the show comes from all the silly interactions Shawn and Gus have during their detective work. If you were to consider watching this show (which I'd highly recommend), I would watch it with friends and family. It's a great way to laugh together and much more fun than watching it by yourself. 

In recent years, I've asked people about this show and have found that quite a lot of people don't seem to like the show. In the course of my life, I've only found 1-2 people that have enjoyed the show. These people have also said it's one of the greatest shows of all time so perhaps it's only for a select few. I also share the opinion that it's one of the greatest shows.
